I agree with roy. take the motor mounts loose and raise the engine a few inches. the shape of the pan will help you get the clearance you need. usually 4-5 inches is enough and you should not have to take the tranny loose for this activity. remember SAFETY FIRST and make shure the engine is well supported before you put your hands or other body parts under it.
